Mr Phil Johnson: 26/7/2003...2/8/2003

Comments: Nice friendly people. Kids loved the climbing frame and feeding the chickens. Grown ups loved the sauna and spa bath. Quiet but close enough to Barnard Castle for supplies.

Mr Graeme Sandland: 1/8/2003...9/8/2003

Comments: The friendliness of the local people, as well as the owners, made us feel totally at home. The peace and tranquility made for a totally relaxing holiday. However there was plenty to see and do roundabouts should you require it. The kids had the time of their lives and did not want to leave. (neither did mum and dad!) The standard of the accommodation was brilliant, everything about the cottage was superb.

Mrs Leanne Holder: 9/8/2003...16/8/2003

Comments: I hate to say this as I will probably holiday there again but this cottage was massively underpriced. The facilities for children were amazing - garden with a park, videos, books & boardgames. And pure luxury for adults with the jucuzzi, whirlpool bath and leather settees. To be honest you don't need to move from the property but if you do I strongly reccommend a trip to High Force waterfall just a couple of miles down the road. Finally our hosts were the most helpful we have ever met after several years of staying in holiday cottages. Superior throughout.

Mr Mark Briggs: 6/9/2003...13/9/2003

Comments: It would be impossible to identify one particular aspect of this holiday. As a whole, it afforded us with precisely what we wanted from it. Peace, relaxation and time to 'wind down' in an environment where we could want for absolutely nothing. The standard of home comforts and provision of electrical appliances was exceptional. This was a wonderful property to spend a week in. Everything we could have possibly needed was thoughtfully provided by John & Marion. First class and a real home away from home. I disagree with the 4 star rating awarded to this property.

Mrs Helen Duffield, ...28/2/2004 - 6/3/2004

Comments: The views were splendid. The Widescreen TV was a plus and the whilpool bath...well...older bones and muscles appreciated it! The local dentist was good, - had a tooth out within hours of making a call to the chap indicated in the house visitors guide...thank goodness he was included. Loved the upside down layout of the house, especially as the snow drifing over the hills and dales was superbly visible from the huge window, whilst we were warm in the central heating! Would love to go there again and try a different season.

Ken and Doreen Johnson, Sunderland, Tyne and Wear...27/2/2004 - 1/3/2004

Comments: A very warm welcome, nice cottage with everything in you would need, well worth another visit.

The Simpkins, St Helens, Merseyside... 27/2/2004 - 1/3/2004

Comments: Wonderful accommodation, home from home, loved the peace and quiet - the snow added to the magic!! Only sorry we didn't get snowed in!! We will be back.

The Scotts, Brigg, North Lincolnshire...8/4/2004 - 15/4/2004

Comments: Best cottage we've ever stayed in! Lovely area with lots to do, will recommend it to our friends

Beverly and Guy, Dallas, Texas...11/1/2004 - 18/1/2004

Comments: Better accommodation that a 5 star hotel, hope we will be back!!

Nigel and Judy Seaton, Swindon, Wiltshire...12/6/2004 - 19/6/2004

Claire & Tony Goodey, Manchester - Oct 2005

Comments: We have stayed in quite alot of self-catering accommodation, nothing at all comes near the standard you offer, it is clean very well equipped, and not at all expensive. Yourself and family are very good hosts, very helpful and nice people.

You made both myself and husband (and dog) feel very welcome, infact we are coming back with more family in May. I have recommended you to work colleagues, and will carry on doing so.
Thankyou so very much for your hospitality.

This has been our third stay at Strathmore Barns (the first in Foxholes). The accommodation is very spacious, clean and very well equipped. There was 4 adults and Blue our dog staying this time and we had plenty of room. Again we were met with a very warm welcome from the family, and assisted with all our requirements. A beautiful part of the country, please don't think about coming here DO IT, it is wonderful. Thankyou once again see you in September.
